Lewis & Clark Bank Launches Small Business Strategy Series

Lewis & Clark Bank Launches Small Business Strategy Series

Smiling faces? Optimism? Surely this couldn't describe small business owners listening to an economic forecast. However, on January 12th, during the first in a series of seasonal strategic presentations from Lewis & Clark Bank, the crowd got some decent fiscal news and high level insight into the next couple years regarding the Oregon market from Economist Tom Potiowsky.

Tom PotiowskyMr. Potiowsky highlighted many aspects of the current economic state, providing real data and a big picture perspective that could prove to be extremely valuable to a small business owner who is planning ahead. Starting with a national scope and whittling down to local interests, Mr. Potiowsky compared recession trends from Oregon, the United States, and from around the world to give an intelligent look into how and when our business community will recover.

Another highlight of the evening was Co-President/CEO of Lewis & Clark Bank, Trey Maust, introducing the launch of a pilot peer-to-peer learning forum sponsored by the Bank. Mr. Maust said, "We're so bullish on small business forums, we're starting one here at Lewis & Clark Bank. This group of non-competing business owners will meet every month to share ideas and experiences. It will initially be led by an experienced business strategist, to focus everyone on strategic planning and get people familiar with best practices for forums." If the pilot group proves to be an effective endeavor, Lewis & Clark Bank will commit to more forum opportunities to local business owners at the next Small Business Strategy Series installment.

Mr. Potiowsky's message of patient optimism reinforces Lewis & Clark Bank's belief in investing in small business. Whether in growth loans, banking services, or simply sharing knowledge and best practices - looking to help businesses in our community succeed is a passion of the Bank. Keep an eye out this spring for our next presentation on a different strategic topic and updates on the progress of our small business forum.
