Jeff Sumpter, President & CEO, and co-founder of Lewis & Clark Bank, brings over 30 years of banking expertise to his leadership role. Since helping establish the bank, Jeff has served as Co-President/CEO and Chief Lending Officer, leveraging his deep experience in community banking to drive strategic growth and foster strong client relationships. Prior to founding Lewis & Clark Bank, Jeff held the position of Chief Lending Officer at a local community bank and advanced through various branch management and sales roles at a super-regional institution.
In addition to leading the bank, Jeff serves on the Lewis & Clark Bank Board of Directors. He is deeply engaged in the banking industry and the broader community, having served as Chair of the Oregon Bankers Association and the Community Banks of Oregon. He currently sits on the Board of Trustees for Oregon BankPAC and is active in the American Bankers Association’s Membership Committee and BankPac. In 2024, Jeff was inducted into the Oregon Bankers Hall of Fame by the Oregon Bankers Association.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Jeff also holds leadership roles in community organizations. He is the past Chair of the Providence Willamette Falls Medical Foundation and a former President of the Gladstone Rotary Club. In 2009, he was honored as one of the Portland Business Journal’s Forty Under 40. Jeff is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School, completing the program in 2005.
Trey Maust, co-founder of Lewis & Clark Bank, brings over twenty-five years of experience in banking, capital markets and financial services. He most recently served as the CEO of Sheltered Harbor, an industry initiative launched by the US financial services industry to enhance the sector’s stability and resilience in the event of a destructive cyber-attack or other loss of operational capability. Prior to this role, he was the Bank’s Co-President & CEO and prior to that, the Chief Financial Officer of Lewis & Clark Bank. Previous to co-founding Lewis & Clark Bank, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of another Portland-area community bank.
Trey began his career at Deloitte in Portland, focusing on financial audit; FDICIA and internal control attestation; U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting; and post-merger integration engagements. He later transferred to Deloitte’s Merger & Acquisition Services Group in New York, where he was a resource nationally for bank acquisitions, conducting financial and operational due diligence on transactions in a variety of industries for financial sponsors and strategic buyers. Trey was also involved in domestic and international acquisitions and divestitures for Honeywell International.
Trey is extensively involved in local and national policy efforts on behalf of the banking industry, including serving on multiple advisory and fiduciary boards of for-profit and nonprofit organizations.
